Faux Finish Countertop

There used to be a full-size range in this kitchen, however, this client decided it was no longer needed and only wanted an in-cabinet oven.
This MDF countertop was a cost-effective solution to installing actual stone to cover the original opening. It also allows for easier converting back to a full size stove.

This is where a seasoned faux finisher comes in to create the illusion of stone. A semi-gloss white was used as a base, and over it, meticulously hand painted light gray veining was done to the entire surface to match the stone as close as possible. The large veins were incorporated as a continuation of the patterns from the countertops and backsplash adjacent to it.

To protect the finished work, it is always recommended to clear coat with a urethane product, so three coats were sprayed on to achieve the final look. This was my contribution to the project, but the client would eventually install glass over it on top of round metal stand offs. That's the reason for the four round marking on the surface.
